Where to look, step by step

   Start with the official facility directories

   There is no single combined list. The list of healthcare facilities is available on the websites of: Emirates Health Services, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, Government of Ajman, Healthcare professionals and facilities - DHA, and Dubai Health Experience. For a clinic inside Dubai, the DHA "Healthcare professionals and facilities" listing is the one to open first.

   Searching for a specific doctor, not a building

   If you already know the specialty you need, search by doctor. Dubai Healthcare City provides an online search facility for doctors, so you can check who practises there before you pick a clinic.

   Consider the healthcare cities

   To provide better healthcare services and to ease access to health facilities, the UAE has opened healthcare cities. These are complexes having clinics of various specialties. They are: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Dubai Healthcare City and Sharjah Healthcare City. If you need several specialists in one trip, a healthcare city is usually the shortest route.

   Government hospitals and what they cover

   You can find out a list of government hospitals operated by Emirates Health Services – EHS (published as a PDF), as well as the health care services they provide. Use it when you want to know in advance whether a given hospital handles your case.

   Book, change or cancel the appointment online

   You can book, modify or cancel an appointment online with a doctor at any of the primary healthcare centers and hospitals of Emirates Health Services. Do this before travelling across the city — walk-in availability is not something the official pages promise.

6. 6

   Pharmacies are listed separately

   Pharmacy lists are published apart from clinics. There is a list of pharmacies for the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Ajman. For any current fee, waiting time or coverage question, check the authority's website directly — those figures change and we do not quote numbers that the official page does not state.
