The logistics that make or break your trip
- •Book two tickets 1–2 weeks ahead: the Museum of the Future and a sunset slot at Burj Khalifa. Everything else can be sorted a day or two before.
- •Don't combine Palm Jumeirah and Downtown in the same day: they're 30–40 minutes apart and each one eats up half a day.
- •Friday–Saturday are the local weekend: malls and beaches get packed. A desert safari or a day trip to Abu Dhabi are great alternatives.
- •Reference information: confirm prices, ratings and schedules with the operator.
- •Pick up a Nol card on day one (available at Metro stations): the Metro and tram cover days 1, 3, and half of day 2 with no taxi needed.
Frequently asked questions
- How many days do you really need in Dubai?
- 5 days is the sweet spot: all the must-sees, plus Abu Dhabi and a relaxed day by the sea. 3 days is doable, but at a fast pace. 7+ days makes sense with kids or if you want a proper holiday rather than a sightseeing sprint.
- What can you fit into one day in Dubai (transit stopover)?
- Reference information: confirm prices, ratings and schedules with the operator.
- What's the best time of year for this itinerary?
- November–April: everything is open and outdoor temperatures hover at a pleasant +24…+30°C. In summer the itinerary still works with adjustments: beach time in the morning, museums in the afternoon, and the desert only after sundown. Summer bonus — hotels are 30–50% cheaper.
- Is it actually realistic to do all of this by Metro, without a taxi?
- Reference information: confirm prices, ratings and schedules with the operator.
- A week in Dubai — where's the smartest place to stay for that length of time?
- From 5–7 nights, an apartment beats a hotel on value per square meter: kitchen and laundry included. For neighborhood logic, see our 'Where to Stay' guide; if visits become a regular thing, run the ownership numbers — a property pays for itself through rental income when you're not there.
