Dubai is moving forward with a significant infrastructure development that will reshape connectivity between the emirate's aviation hubs. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed that six bidders are competing to design and build the new Airport Express Line. This rail service is planned to connect Dubai International Airport (DXB) directly with Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) in Dubai South. The project covers a distance of 55 kilometers and will feature five stations along its route.

The line is set to begin at the Dubai Metro Red Line station located within DXB. From there, it will travel through the Al Jaddaf area and run along Al Khail Road. A key stop is planned for the imminent Gold Line Metro station in Jumeirah Village Circle before the line terminates at DWC. This link will provide a vital transport artery for passengers transferring between airports and support the growth of the Dubai South area. This promises a much smoother transfer experience compared to current road transport options.

While the tender process is active, the RTA has not yet provided a specific timeframe for when the service will become operational. Travelers should stay tuned for further announcements regarding construction milestones. Details are in the original publication.
