Our retelling · details in the original publication
Ajman Transport Authority has announced a significant update to payment methods for commuters and vehicle owners. Starting September 17, 2026, cash will no longer be accepted on buses traveling to Sharjah, Dubai, and Umm Al Quwain. This change is part of a broader move to digitalize services across the emirate and improve efficiency.
Passengers will need to use the Masaar Money card or a bank card to pay for their fares. The Masaar Money card is the official payment method for bus rides in Ajman. It is available for free at all Ajman Transport Authority branches and approved sales points throughout the city. Remember that while the card is free, it must be topped up with credit before you can use it on the bus.
The new rule also applies to administrative services. Cash payments at the Speed Vehicle Testing and Registration Centre will stop on the same date. Only electronic payments will be accepted there as well. If you use these bus routes or need to register a vehicle, make sure you have a bank card or Masaar card ready. You can find all the specifics in the original publication.
