Abu Dhabi extends housing loan activation period

14 August 2026·Source: The National

Emiratis now have two extra years to activate housing loans for construction and maintenance. The move aims to ease financial pressure amid rising construction costs in the emirate.

Our retelling · details in the original publication

The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority added two years to the deadline for citizens to activate their housing loans. This extension applies to building, demolition, reconstruction, and home maintenance projects.

Previously, Emiratis had to activate these loans within a three-year window. The decision aligns with current developments in the construction market and implementation costs.

It also supports the UAE's designation of 2026 as the Year of the Family. This follows a Dh4.21 billion housing assistance package approved earlier this year. For full details, check the original publication.
