Abu Dhabi Police have issued a renewed safety warning regarding the significant dangers of stopping vehicles in the middle of the road. On Friday, the force released a video showing several traffic accidents resulting from vehicles stopping suddenly. These incidents caused chain-reaction collisions as drivers behind failed to react in time to the stationary cars, leading to severe damage and potential injuries.
Police emphasised that bringing a vehicle to a stop, whether because of a sudden tyre problem or any other emergency, poses a grave danger to all other road users. They strongly urged motorists to continue on to the nearest exit or the safest location whenever possible rather than blocking the lane and creating a hazard for others.
If the vehicle cannot be moved, drivers should immediately contact the Command and Control Centre by calling 999 to request assistance. This ensures a swift response from patrol units, limits the chances of a serious accident, and maintains the smooth flow of traffic on the emirate's busy roads. Drivers are reminded that staying calm and finding a safe shoulder is better than risking a collision.
