A sponsor or eligibility is required
Most visas need a sponsor (employer, family member) or self-sponsorship grounds. Note: only the sponsor can cancel your residence visa.

Entry permit
An entry permit is the first step for residence visa processing.

Medical fitness test (18+)
Applicants aged 18 and above take a medical fitness test and pass a security check.

Emirates ID
You must apply for an Emirates ID card through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP).

Visa issuance
After the checks the visa is issued. Validity depends on type and sponsor: 1, 2 or 3 years on a sponsored visa; up to 5 or 10 years unsponsored (Golden/long-term).
