Travelling abroad for medical care, study, Hajj, Umrah or marriage: what UAE residents should know

Leaving the country for a specific purpose — treatment, study, pilgrimage or a wedding — often means dealing with a particular government body before you go, not after. Here is a plain-language guide to the official steps, based only on what The Official UAE Government Portal (u.ae) publishes. Where an exact amount or date applies, we point you to the authority rather than guess.

    Attesting a foreign marriage

UAE nationals who conclude their marriage abroad must get it attested first by the Ministry of Justice of the country of marriage and then by the UAE embassy in that country. If the marriage document was in a language other than Arabic, a UAE legal certified translator must first translate it, and the UAE's Ministry of Justice should attest the translation.
