Step by step
- 1
Know who must be covered
In Dubai the employer must provide health insurance for the employee; the sponsor for family members and domestic staff. Having a policy is a condition for the residence visa.
- 2
Choose a plan
There are basic plans (minimum DHA-standard cover) and enhanced ones. Compare cover, clinic network, dental, medication and limits across insurers.

Buy from a licensed insurer
Buy the policy from an insurance company or broker accredited by the DHA. Make sure the plan meets the DHA minimum requirements for the visa.
- 4
Link the policy to your visa
An active policy is needed when issuing/renewing the residence visa — insurance details are checked in the process. Keep the policy valid to avoid penalties.
Fees and timelines may change — verify with the official source.
