Crowdfunding in Dubai: How to Get Started

If you want to raise money for a project — or put your own funds into someone else's — crowdfunding lets you do it through an online platform. In the UAE, crowdfunding is the solicitation of funds from persons through a platform for a specific purpose, as per the Rulebook of Central Bank of the UAE. Here is how it works and where the rules come from.

What to know before you start

  1. 1

    Understand what crowdfunding means here

Crowdfunding is the solicitation of funds from persons through a platform for a specific purpose, as per the Rulebook of Central Bank of the UAE. In plain terms, many people contribute smaller amounts through one online platform toward a single goal.

  2. 2

    Know who regulates it

Presently, the Central Bank regulates loan-based crowdfunding activities in the UAE. The published guidance is available as a PDF (PDF, 500 KB) on the authority's website, so always confirm the current rules there before you commit.

  3. 3

    Choose a licensed platform

Raise or invest only through a recognised platform. Examples of crowdfunding platforms in the UAE are Beehive, YallaGive and Tathmeer. Check that any platform you use is properly authorised for the type of crowdfunding you have in mind.

  4. 4

    Check the wider framework

Beyond the Central Bank, the Dubai Financial Services Authority launched a Crowdfunding Framework (updated on 09 Jun 2026). If your activity falls under that framework, review its requirements directly with the authority.
