What to know before you book

   Flying pregnant with Etihad Airways

   According to Etihad Airways, up to 28 weeks of pregnancy women may travel by air without providing a medical certificate. From week 29 onwards, you need to provide a medical certificate confirming your fitness to fly.

   At Emirates Airline, up to 29 weeks women may travel by air without providing a medical certificate. From week 29 onwards, a medical certificate is required to confirm your fitness to fly.

   Flying pregnant with Air Arabia

   Air Arabia allows travel until the end of the 35th week of pregnancy, provided a valid medical certificate is submitted.

   Flying pregnant with Fly Dubai

   As per Fly Dubai, pregnant women may travel by air up to the end of the 28th week without a medical certificate. From week 29, you need to provide a medical certificate confirming your fitness to fly.

   Who counts as an infant

   A baby under two years is an infant according to the website of Emirates Airline. Keep this age band in mind when you book, as fares and seating rules for infants differ from those for older children.

   When a newborn may fly

   According to the website of Etihad Airways, an infant can fly if the baby is more than seven days old, was born without complications and was not born premature.

   If the baby was premature or had complications

   If the infant was born premature or with complications, parents must submit the MEDIF form and a medical report before the flight.

   Children travelling alone on Fly Dubai

   Fly Dubai does not allow children under 12 years of age to travel alone unless the child is accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 16 years old.
