The Al Freej Fridge campaign returned for its third year on 3 July, bringing a thank‑you gesture to the people who build Dubai’s skyline. Launched by the community platform Ferjan Dubai and backed by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the project promises to hand out roughly two million bottles of cold water, juices and ice‑cream across the emirate.
Four refrigerated vans, each driven by Emirati volunteers, will criss‑cross the city from now until 3 September. The teams will stop at labour camps, construction sites and other work‑site locations, leaving the supplies directly at the doors of the workers who live and labour far from their families.
Alia Al Shamlan, director of Ferjan Dubai, said the initiative reflects a “national responsibility” to serve the hands that raise the city. “It’s important for us to serve the people who are building the city,” she told reporters, adding that the programme also encourages local businesses to join the effort.
